Moritz R. owned a clothes-washing factory in Berlin. He was a member of the DDP (Deutsche Demokratische Partei) and a Berlin City Council (Stadtrat) member until 1933. He was apparently involved in a number of schemes to help wealthy Jews get their money out of Nazi Germany. See Werner T. Angress "immer etwas abseits", Edition Hentrich, Berlin 2005, page 178.
