Emma Weil Wertheimer was born 22 December 1870 in Otterstadt, Germany to Abraham Weil and Magdelena Lemle. She married Heinrich Karl Wertheimer in Bretten. They had two children, Hilde, born 13 January 1893 in Bremen and Theodor. Emma's husband, who worked as a director of Waffelfabrik Sondhelm, died in Radebuel on 20 December 1931. After her husband's death, Emma moved to Goch where she lived in the household of Karl Sternefeld in Mühlenstraße No. 47 (today 51). Her daughter had moved to Amsterdam in 1923 and Emma wanted to be closer to her daughter. On 13 May 1935 Emma moved to Amsterdam to live with her daughter, Hilde. Emma was seized by the Nazis and sent to Westerbrork. She died at Auschwitz on 13 November 1942.
