Ans van Dijk was arrested by the Jewish Affairs Office of the Amsterdam police in 1943. This office worked for the German authorities and tracked down Jews in hiding. To save herself from deportation, Ans van Dijk agreed to help to track down other Jews in hiding. With the aid of the network she set up, hundreds of Jews were arrested and transported to camps. After the war, Ans van Dijk was sentenced to death.
