Simon Knap was born on 28 June 1926 as illegitimate son of Deborah Knap, a daughter of Simon Knap and Hendrika Wolffers. He was a grandson of Simon Knap and lived in with his grandparents at Bannierstraat 110 in Rotterdam, but was under supervision of the Wellfare Board of Rotterdam. At the family registration card from the Rotterdam Archive of grandfather Simon Kanp it is to read that “the mother had legalized the child” Simon was however, aged 16, killed in Auschwitz on 30 September 1942. Simon’s mother Debora Knap was taken in in the Psychiatric Institution Maasland in Poortugaal on 5 July 1929. Until now nothing is further known of her. City
