Israel came to the Netherlands on May 5th, 1939. First, he stayed with his foster father in Amsterdam, then he lived in Eindhoven (Dommelhuis), ad Mijnsheerenland before going to Loosdrecht in October 1940.
His mother was Sara Lea Karpf or Fridman, born on 19.09.1897 in Rzeszow, Poland, and his father was Nussen (Hirsch) Teitelbaum, born on 6.11.1893. In 1940 his mother was living in Leipzig, Blücherstr. 18, and his father had disappeared by then. They are not on the Bundesarchiv Gedenkbuch. But Sara's brother filled in a Testimony for his sister, saying she had been taken to Zbaszyn.
