Ruth and her brother Siegbert came to the Netherlands illegally in December 1938. First they stayed at quarantine Zeeburg in Amsterdam, then in Ruinen (Noorderhuis), and then Ruth was taken in by a family in Rotterdam while Siegbert went to live with a family in Amsterdam.
Their parents wanted to go to China. They were Ida Adler, born on 02.09.1904 in Bensheim, and Siegfried Simon, born on 04.03.1900 in Neutomischel. Both of them were deported on 25.03.1942 to the ghetto in Piaski. Siegfried Simon had been in Buchenwald in November 1938.
