Therese Wolf-Levor

In about 1936, seeing the gathering storm in Germany, Karl Lefor (my grandfather) who was living in Amsterdam (and had a Dutch passport) supported the emigration of Therese Wolf-Levor (his sister) as well as other family members (including Therese's daughter Hildegard with her husband Fritz and their daughter Irmgard) to Amsterdam in order to escape Germany after the institution of the Nuremburg laws. Unfortunately, after the Nazi invasion in May 1940, Therese along with her daughter and her family, were unable to leave because they still had German passports. Karl and his family were Dutch citizens and left Holland in December 1940 (emigrating to NYC vis Cuba), just before registration of the Jews in Holland began in February 1941.
