Herman Andriesse was married. The couple had four children. Three children lived at home, while one had its own appartment. All four children survived the war. The Andriesse family lived at 72 Pretoriusstraat in Amsterdam. On 13 May 1943 a telegram was sent via the International Red Cross in Geneva to a contact of Herman's in Palestine requesting an exchange. A letter from the Red Cross dated 25 June 1943 confirms receipt of an immigration certificate for entrance to Palestine for Herman Andriesse and his family. This Veterans' certificate was sent to the Nazi authorities, as indicated by a statement from the Office Palestinien de Suisse dated 11 August 1943.
