Jacob van Kleef originally came from Amsterdam. He moved to Meppel with his wife and son Levy in 1932. They lived on Soembastraat until 1940, when they moved to Ceintuurbaan.
Jacob van Kleef worked for Blue Band as a sales representative.
At the end of July 1942 he had to report for work at Orvelte labour camp. From there he was transported to Westerbork transit camp. His wife, Dina van Kleef-Frank, was taken from their home on 3 October 1942 and also transported to Westerbork.
