Willem Willing and his family

Willem Willing was married to Margot Schulman, who was his second wife. Willem Willing was a reporter at the Amersfoortsch Dagblad. The father of Margot Schulman was the painter Lion Schulman, who lived with them.
During the war the family had to move from Amersfoort to Amsterdam. Willem Willing and his wife Margot Schulman were given lodgings with a Jewish family in the Deurloostraat. Later on, they went into hiding, but they were arrested on 21 August 1943 and deported to Auschwitz via the Penal Barrack in Westerbork.

In total three children of this family survived the war. Two children from a previous marriage of Willem Willing. And one child from a previous marriage of Margot Schulman.

The Jokos file reveals that a claim was lodged for compensation for valuables surrendered to the Lippmann-Rosenthal looting bank (L-claim, number 13000/8999).
