Jacob de Wijze was married to Saartje Katan. The couple had three children. In 1938, the family moved from Boxmeer to the Pontanusstraat in Nijmegen.
Jacob de Wijze's nickname was Jaap. He was a business partner in a cattle and slaughter house for export in Cuijk.
The family De Wijze was rounded up from their house in the night of 2 to 3 October 1942 during a raid and deported to Westerbork. The three children survived the war.

During the war, the De Wijze family had a Jewish refugee from Germany living with them. Inge Marga Meierhof tried to flee westwards but got stuck in the Netherlands due to the outbreak of the war. She was deported and killed on the same date as the De Wijze family.
