The Swart family had two children: Hendrika (also known as Henny) and Simon Elias (also known as Sim). Their father, Louis, died before the war.
During the war Hendrika had a job at the Jewish Council. Their mother managed to survive by hiding at the attic whenever there were Germans at the door. Simon Elias' non-Jewish fiancée took residence at the house.
