Isaac Sulzbach was a son of Abraham Sulzbach and Charlotte Glauberg. On 13 October 1899, he got married to Jenny Baer, daughter of Hermann Baer and Caroline Emmanuel. The couple had six children, including Karoline Sulzbach. Isaac Sulzbach was assistant manager of the Bank Rothschild in Frankfurt am Main. After the Kristallnacht, the family escaped to the Netherlands.
Jenny Baer was the oldest daughter in the Baer family. Her mother died when she was 12. She had to leave school to help in the household and with the care of the other children.
Karoline Sulzbach was the second daughter of Isaac Sulzbach and Jenny Baer. She came to Amsterdam with her parents after Kristallnacht. She worked there for some time in the Jewish Orphanage for Girls. Karoline Sulzbach was unmarried.
