Israël Chaim Kunke genannt Ball and his family

The Ball family was a protestant-christian family. Salo was the youngest child. He had some elder brothers. He was small and thin and had stiff upstanding, dark hair and dark eyes. Salo went to the protestant-christian primary school, called Dr. J.Th. de Visserschool, section A, at the West Frankelandsestraat in Schiedam. He was a good pupil and in July 1941 he went from class 5 to 6. He got permission to enter the class where pupils were prepared through a crash course for the entrance examen for HBS or grammar school. But that far it did not come. In September 1941 all Jewish pupils had to leave their school. Salo had to stay home and in winter 1942-1943 the family was arrested and deported.
