Salomon van Dijk and Julia Henriëtte de Vries were married at Westerbork transit camp on 10 May 1943. He was a ship's machinist. He had been married before to Maatje Spuyman; this marriage ended in divorce. He was a son of the merchant Aron van Dijk and of Mirjam d'Ancona.
Julia Henriëtte was a daughter of the deceased Jonas de Vries and of Louise Jacobs.
