Salomon van Vollenhoven and his family

Salomon van Vollenhoven was married to Frederika Emma Nort. In August 1930, van Vollenhoven cancelled their membership of the Amersfoort Jewish community through a bailiff. They later joined the Arminian Church.

In August 1942, the couple had to leave their house at the Utrechtseweg and move to Amsterdam. They were provided with lodgings in the Albrecht Dürerstraat. In January 1943, they were deported to Vught and from there to Auschwitz via Westerbork. They threw a postcard from the train, which was posted in Assen station: 'On the way to Poland, hoping we will meet again'.
