Rachel Godfried-Costers was the widow of the butcher Izaäk Godfried, who had died in 1938. The couple had six children. Rachel Godfried-Costers was taken from her home in Meppel in the night of 2-3 October 1942 and transported to Westerbork. Her daughter Jetje and two children, who survived the war, were living at a different address during the war.
