Gerrit van Praag was married to Reintje Kool. The couple had three children. Levie and Jacob died in Auschwitz and the third child survived the war. The family Van Praag lived at 47 Jodenbreestraat, second floor, in Amsterdam. Gerrit van Praag was a merchant.
During the raid of February 1941, German police men entered the house of the family Van Praag by force and forced the parents to hand over a few items of jewellery.
The archive of the Stichting Sieraden-Comité contains a list of the stolen items of jewellery, a declaration made under oath and a statement of the right to inheritance from 1959, among other things.
