Elie Kaufman and his family

The Nijmegen police commissioner requested that Elie Kaufman, his wife Cato Kaufman-Zilversmit and their children John David and Martijn, residing in Nijmegen, be located, detained and brought to trial. They were suspected of having changed their place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.

The Kaufman family had lived in Hengelo and Rotterdam before moving to Nijmegen. A third son, Carel Albert still lived in Rotterdam.
