Andries Levie van Dijk was the son of Herri Salomon van Dijk and Saartje Levie. In 1933 he married Simone Selma de Beer, the daughter of Benjamin de Beer and Helena Israels, in Sappemeer. The couple had a daughter Sara Ina, known as Ineke. The family lived in Dordrecht, where Andries Levie van Dijk was the chief representative of the Zwanenberg meat product company. The family went into hiding in Doorn, where Ineke attended school with her hair dyed blond. The family was caught.
