Benjamin Samuel van Dijk (known as Ben) was the son of Andries van Dijk and Louise Stibbe. On 5 October 1916 he married Sophia Emma Clara Levie (known as Feitje), the daughter of Meijer Levie and Bertha Elekan. The couple had three children, Louise Bertha, Andries Meijer and another child who survived the war. The family lived at various addresses in Oud-Beijerland. In 1939 they moved to Delft. Benjamin van Dijk was a cattle dealer.
