Judith Snuijf was the sister of Sophia de Wilde-Snuijf. She was the eldest of the eight children of Elias Snuijf and Eva Cats. Judith was an emancipated working woman. She was not married. She worked as an executive secretary for Henri Deterding (magaging director of Shell). She became stone deaf while still young, as a result of which she retired and lived on a pension. She learned how to paint, and made still lifes in the style of the ‘Amsterdamse joffers’ group. As ‘Tante Ju’ (Auntie Ju) she played an important role in the families of her brothers and sisters.
