Grietje Serlui-de Hartog was a daughter of Joel Nathan de Hartogh and Saartje van der Horst, a family with eight children, of whom two children from this family alreayd had died as babies. The others were Grietje herself, Salomon, Nathan (both already died before the war), Rebekka, Judith and Jansje.
Grietje married Israël Serlui in Weesp on August 23, 1905, a son of Moses Machiel Serlui and Schoontje Couzijn. Her husband died however in Amsterdam on 27 January 1919.
