The father of Jozef (Joop) Swartberg was co-director of NV Joz. Swartberg Handelsmij. Jozef was born in Rotterdam. His parents moved in 1923 to Hilversum. There they lived at Dalweg 3. Joop studied medicine in Amsterdam like his brothers Nol and Frans. Joop died at the beginning of the war on the effects of pneumonia. His parents survived the war by going into hiding, but none of their children survived the war.
