Edgar Pfifferling was the son of Arthur Pfifferling and Johanna Katz. He came to the Netherlands in 1938, in an attempt to emigrate to the US. In February 1940 he was placed in the Dutch refugee camp at Westerbork. Later this site became a concentration camp.
