Adolf Baars, born as Asser Baars, had been chairman of the Indische Sociaal-Democratische Vereeniging and fellow founder of the Indonesian Communist Party. Asser, who was called Dolf, officially changed his name to Adolf in 1937.
Dolf was married for the third time in 1934. His wife survived the war. Their marriage was childless. Dolf had five children from his two previous marriages.
