In June 1941, two obituaries were placed in Het Joodsche Weekblad for George G. Kleerkoper/Kleerkooper. An obituary about him featured in the same edition of the weekly paper.
George Kleerkoper was a former head of the Talmud Touroschool. He wrote several Hebrew reading books for education. He also wrote a few small plays. Kleerkoper was a leading figure with the Achawah. The chief rabbi granted him the title of chower.
During the funeral, A. Abram said thanks on behalf of Talmud Toura 'for what he had done for the association during some 40 years. Many a pupil who achieved something in society has Kleerkoper's views regarding aftercare to thank for it. He managed to lift his function above the normal level and he was accessible for new insights in the field of education'. E. Stibbe, chairman of Achawah, called Kleerkoper 'a pioneer, whose passing away leaves a gap. He managed to make himself useful in many different functions. Thousands of children have enjoyed his beautiful educational plays and benefited from his fresh learning methods with which he did not always receive the co-operation he deserved. The school authorities did not realise their importance for education.'
