Lion Wertheim was a son of Jonas Wertheim and Rebecka Levij. He married 6 October 1926 to Rachel Schelvis, daughter of Nathan Schelvis and Duifje Dagloonder. The couple had four children together: Beppie, Duifje, Jonas and Esther.
