Barend Lopes Cardozo was a son of Samuel Lopes Cardozo and Roosje Hamel. He married Betje Hamel in Amsterdam on 31 December 1936, a daughter of Abraham Hamel and Doortje Bing.
The couple had one daughter: Dorothy Rozalie.
Barend Lopes Cardozo was born in a family with six children. Besides his parents, also he and his brother Israel have been killed by the nazis.
