Hans Stein was married to Edith Feuerstein. He was a member of the Deventer Vereniging. Before she was married, Edith Feuerstein lived from 19 August 1938 at the Villa Catharinahoeve youth farm established in Gouda in 1937 on over two hectares of land for Palestine Pioneers. Except fro a six-month hiatus in 1939, she stayed there until 17 April 1940. Afterwards she moved to Nederhorst den Berg.
The mayor of Voorst requested that Hans Stein be located, detained and brought to trial. He was suspected of having changed his place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.
