In 1934, Klaus Deen was attending ‘Openbare lagere school nr. 3’ (a publicly-run primary school) in Tilburg. He later went to the Rijks-HBS (modern grammar school) Koning Willem II, also in Tilburg. In October 1941, he was at the Joods Lyceum (a publicly-run secondary school for Jews) in Den Bosch. At Vught concentration camp, he was accepted to the carpentry workshop as an apprentice.
