Emma Vogelstein was the widow of Aäron Hekster. Aäron Hekster was a family doctor and served on the Veenendaal town council. He died on 30 January 1940. Emma Vogelstein left Veenendaal fairly soon after her husband's death and was deleted from the municipal register on 16 April 1940. She moved to 123 Frederikslaan in Heiloo, where her daughter lived. She and her daughter went into hiding at 29 Chopinstraat in Amsterdam. They were caught and deported from Westerbork on 30 March 1943.
