Simon Meijer and Mary Premsela got engaged on 18 June 1939. The for that occasion written engagement book was donated to the Jewish Historical Museum in 2011. Even though official proof can not be found Mary Premsela and Simon Meijer were married according to a declaration of the Red Cross. As evidence they were able to show a letter of 22 June 1949 written by the mother of Mary in which she speaks about her son-in-law Simon Meijer. On 14 October 1947 a fellow prisoner of Simon and Mary in Mechelen also declared that they were married.
