Aron Alexander van Gelder was the son of Herman Aron van Gelder and Aaltje Gans. He had a butcher’s shop and a meat processing factory in Winterswijk. In 1926 he married in Schmallenberg. He and his wife had three children. Before the war, Aron Alexander van Gelder chaired the Winterswijk branch of the Committee for Jewish Refugees.
On 8 October 1941, Aron Alexander van Gelder was taken from his home during a raid. He was deported to Mauthausen by way of Westerbork. The Mauthausen records indicate that he was shot while trying to escape.
