One of the then neighbours who lived below the Schelvis family remembers that the family had suddenly disappeared. It is not known whether they had gone into hiding or they have been arrested.
The family had many beautiful things. One evening, the neighbours divided the household effects between each other. These included the furniture, crockery and new linen. During the war the child of the Schelvis family was brought to the childcare centre at the Plantage Middenlaan. From there it was brought to safety and has thus survived the war.
