Maurits Baggers was married. He and his wife had two children. The family lived in Amsterdam. Maurits Baggers worked as a sales representative. During the occupation he was involved with the resistance and operated under the aliases Dr. Brand and Wim. His activities included spying, helping people in hiding and serving on a squad of thugs. During a raid on 7 September 1944 at the Trion garage on the Amsteldijk, where a lot of underground material was kept, he was seized after a shootout and brought to the SD office on the Euterpestraat. He was shot summarily that same day on the Kalfjeslaan.
