About Israël Sjouwerman

Israël Sjouwerman was a son of Emanuel Sjouwerman and Aaltje Preso. On 24 September 1902 he married in Amsterdam Rebecca Prins, a daughter of Abraham Isaac Prins and Anna Bloemist. The couple had four children and before the war, the whole family lived some years in Antwerp. Israel was deported from Mechelen to Auschwitz with Convoy IX which departed 12 September 1942 and most likely Israel was killed immediately upon arrival in Auschwitz on 14 September 1942.
During the war, the children lived at other addresses. One of them was Abraham Sjouwerman who lived at the Transvaalstraat in Amsterdam. Most likely, the other three children have survived the Holocaust.
