Karel Rubens, also known as Charles, was rounded up during the razzia of February 1941. At the time of the razzia he was at the Tip Top-theatre in the Jodenbreestraat, a cinema which, by German laws of segregation, was for Jews only. The cinema was entered by force and a large number of visitors were taken in. A few months after the occasion the parents of Karel Rubens received a notification of his death in Buchenwald.
