Hartog van Beugen was during many decades the teacher of religion, cantor and aid of the rabbi in Dordrecht.

Hartog van Beugen became the chief assistant of the Dordrecht rabbi Samuel Dasberg in 1920 and on 1 May 1932 that of his successor Barend Josua Katan. He was a teacher, cantor, shokhet, mohel, secretary and administrator at the Dutch-Jewish Community of Dordrecht.
