About Meier Turteltaub

Meier Turteltaub was known as Max. He arrived in the Netherlands as a German refugee on 5 January 1939 and found shelter in Eindhoven. He lived at the youth aliyah home Paviljoen Loosdrechtse Rade in Loosdrecht from 29 November 1939 until 7 December 1942.
He and a brother who survived the war then went into hiding at a pastor's house.
The mayor of Loosdrecht requested that Meier Turteltaub, who had changed his place of residence without the required authorization, be located, detained and brought to trial. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.
Upon being warned of a raid, the brothers hid behind a dam. When Meier went to check after a while, he was caught.
