Just as his brother, Hartog Gerhard, Salomon Caneel was a dealer in bicycles and bicycle parts. He had taken over the business of his father in March 1937. Since 1923 his father owned a trade in bicycles, bicycle parts, electrical appliances, radios and radio parts on the Vischpoortenplas 10. In accordance with § 7 VO 48/1941 (Nazi regulation to remove Jews from the trade and industry) the company was liquidated in October 1942 and dissolved in March 1944.
