Louis Karel Nieweg was the son of Heiman Benjamin Nieweg and Bettje Betty Stoppelman. He was married to Marie van Tijn, daughter of Mozes David van Tijn and Aleida Schaap. The couple had two children: Maurits and one child that survived the war.
