Jacob Ralf Götz (he used the name Ralf) was a son of Georg Götz and Dina Eschwege. With the help of his stepfather Israël van Voolen he mannaged to escape Germany in 1938, together with his mother.

The mayor of Sittard requested that the bachelor Jacob Ralf Israel Götz, a merchant, be located, detained and brought to trial. A resident of Sittard, he was suspected of changing his place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.
