About Sara van Geldere-Frijda

Sara Frijda was a daughter of Hertog Levi Frijda and Esther Rosenbach. She married 23 December 1904 in Wijk bij Duurstede Benjamin van Geldere, born in Rotterdam and died in Haarlem 27 December 1933. He was a son of Salomon van Geldere and Sophia Polak. The couple had a son who passed away in Haarlem in 1926, ony 17 years old and a son Harry Salomon, who has been killed in Mauthausen.

Sara Frijda was born into a family of six children, of whom three children already have died at young age. One sister died in Waalwijk in 1927 and her other sister passed away, unmarried, in Haarlem in 1930.

After the passing of her husband, Sara lived in with her half-cousin Benjamin Frijda at the Meester Cornelisstraat 60 zwart in Haarlem. From there she was carried off to Westerbork on 20 April 1943 and housed in barrack 57, waiting for her deportation, which followed on 27 April to Sobibor and upon arrival there on 30 April 1943, she was immediately murdered in the gas chambers.
