Joseph Nardus Schrijver and Carla Okker were married at Westerbork transit camp on 24 April 1943. He was an office clerk and a son of Jacob Schrijver and Caroline Koe. Carla, a saleswoman, was a daughter of the travelling salesman Samuel Okker and of Louise Tuininga. The father of the bride, Samuel Okker, attended the marriage ceremony. He signed the marriage certificate.
