Erich Alexander Kuttner was a political commentator and journalist. As a social democrat, he fought for the interests of war invalids and a fair justice system in Germany. After fleeing to the Netherlands in 1933, he threw himself into his studies of the origins of the revolt of the Netherlands against Spain in the sixteenth century. Initially, he lived with the political commentator Nico Rost at Hygiegaplein 18 II and Biesboschstraat 70 I in Amsterdam. His wife survived the war.
