Simon Hijman was a son of Levie Hijman and Rachel Reens. He married in Zaandam on 2 September 1915 to Judith de Jong, a daughter of Salomon de Jong and Elsje Lelie. The couple had five children, of whom two children have died as babies. The other children, Elsje, Levie Salomon and Flora have been killed during the Holocaust.
