Marianne van Buren was married to Salomon Gobes. They had three children: Paul Albert, Freddy Jacobus and a child that survived the war. She sang well and played the piano.
In the twenties she went with her husband and children to Antwerp. They lived in a Hotel there for some time, before they moved to an appartment. During the crisis the family went back to the Netherlands. When Marianne van Buren was going to be taken away from her home during the war she simulated insanity and was left alone. She then 'went into hiding' in the Apeldoornse Bos. When the Apeldoornse Bos was emptied she ran away with a befriended nurse. She went into hiding on a farm. Her oldest son joined her there later. They were betrayed and deported.
