Hanna Behr was born in Kreitsburg in Latvia, in those years belonging to the Russian sphere of influence. She was married to Itzik Chelem, also born in Kreitsburg on 15 April 1871 but passed away already on 13 January 1914, probably in Amsterdam.
The Chelem family lived in Amsterdam since May 1905 where they have arrived with three children: Lea, Sila, and Salomon. In Amsterdam again three children were born: Suzanna, who was married to Meijer Denneboom but survived the Holocaust, Gaye and Fride.
