Aaltje Kool, a daughter of Elias Kool and Elisabeth Elzas, married Isaac Aandagt in Amsterdam on 19 April 1925. The couple had five children: Jacob, Elias, Rebecca, Joseph and Elisabeth. Aaltje and Isaac divorced on 22 September 1934. After the divorce, their sixth child Asser was born.
After the birth of Asser, Aaltje Kool gave birth again to two daughters in 1938 and 1940: Sonja and Elly, who received the surname of their mother: Kool.
